Chiang Mai is most popular during Thailand’s winter months (Nov.- Feb.) when temperature could drop to as low as 0°C. If you’re thinking about spending your winter in Thailand, Bangkok will not disappoint you. Bangkok is usually hot and humid for most of the year. But around winter time, the temperature will be a lot cooler which makes for a pleasurable stroll around Lumpini Park or dining at open-air eateries.
When you visit Bangkok around November, you may find yourself wandering into a Christmas wonderland. Shopping malls and many office buildings began putting up Christmas decorations and adorning the premises with tiny colorful lights. Although Thailand is predominantly a Buddhist country, but this doesn’t stop them from getting into the Christmas spirit.
What’s more, most shopping malls will offer year end sales and special promotions on many items so this is a fun time to go shopping. High end shopping malls such as Siam Paragon, Emporium and Central World will have giant Christmas trees and amazing decorations so be sure to have your camera ready. Every year, Central World will also host one of the biggest Bangkok New Year countdown outside their building.
Saraburi is one of Thailand’s central provinces and a major attraction during winter. In December, the roadsides of Saraburi will be filled with bright yellow sunflowers in full bloom.
By December, the rainy season should be over. This means fabulous cool weather with many sunny days in Phuket. During the winter months, the province is in a wonderful festive atmosphere with the nightlife at tourist towns in full swing. You could find restaurants such as the Green Man Pub & Restaurant serving traditional Christmas meal like turkey and cranberry sauce. Shopping malls will play Christmas carols and adorn the place with colorful decorations. There will also be a wonderful firework display on New Year’s Eve. Many hotels in Phuket will also host Christmas celebration so don’t be surprised if you see Santa Claus entertaining the crowd on the beach!
