This winter, come create your adventure in an exotic tropical paradise of Thailand. Winter in Thailand is one of the most wonderful times of the year because there are so many things to do and places to go during these chilly months. Winter time in a tropical country will be different than countries with four seasons. This will be a perfect opportunity for you to explore new activities on your winter vacation getaway.

Chiang Mai

Winter in Thailand-Doi Inthanon

Chiang Mai is most popular during Thailand’s winter months (Nov.- Feb.) when temperature could drop to as low as 0°C. Winter in Thailand wouldn’t be complete without a visit to this charming province. Doi Inthanon National Park has many attractions favored by locals and tourists like the Great Holy Relics pagodas, the highest mountains in Thailand, Wachirathan Waterfall, campsite and botanical gardens. We have written another blog HERE on various Chiang Mai attractions so please check it out.

If you’re thinking about spending your winter in Thailand, Bangkok will not disappoint you. Bangkok is usually hot and humid for most of the year. But around winter time, the temperature will be a lot cooler which makes for a pleasurable stroll around Lumpini Park or dining at open-air eateries.

When you visit Bangkok around November, you may find yourself wandering into a Christmas wonderland. Shopping malls and many office buildings began putting up Christmas decorations and adorning the premises with tiny colorful lights. Although Thailand is predominantly a Buddhist country, but this doesn’t stop them from getting into the Christmas spirit.

What’s more, most shopping malls will offer year end sales and special promotions on many items so this is a fun time to go shopping. High end shopping malls such as Siam Paragon, Emporium and Central World will have giant Christmas trees and amazing decorations so be sure to have your camera ready. Every year, Central World will also host one of the biggest Bangkok New Year countdown outside their building.
