Want to do some Thailand island hopping but confused as where to go? We feel you. With so many islands to choose from, looking at the map can be overwhelming. Here’s something to help you decide where to go!
Phuket is packed with Europeans that fly straight in for their 2-3 week holiday. Phuket is one of the more expensive beach resorts you could pick since there isn’t much budget accommodation available on the beaches. For those on a budget there are cheap Guesthouses downtown, which can easily be reached by bus from the beaches. With heaps of well off European tourists and an abundance of nice restaurants and upscale nightlife Phuket has a reputation of being one of the most expensive places in Thailand.
Krabi town is small and an easily be explored by foot. There aren’t any beaches in direct vicinity of the town, but Ao Nang and Railay Beach are an easy baht bus or long tail boat ride away. You can day trip both of them. One thing you might want to do if you choose the Krabi area is going on an island hopping tour. There are many pristine islands off the coast that are uninhabited and well worth a visit. While Krabi has a decent selection of restaurants to pick from the nightlife lacks variety and comes short compared to Phuket.
